Spectral Cell™:
An Enlightened Solution

With the global move towards greenhouse farming, the long-term goal is to achieve the highest yields with the lowest impact to the environment. The key challenges that most greenhouses face today are heat management and energy consumption.

Spectral Cell™ is a revolutionary innovation that promises to address these key issues with patent pending technology that makes use of natural light more efficiently. It achieves this in two ways:

up to 75Wp/m²
Power Generation

1. Optimize PAR*
Plants don’t use the entire visible spectrum of light for photosynthesis. Spectral Cell™ is able to filter out unnecessary wavelengths, while still ensuring that plants receive the optimal levels of PAR for growth. With less light entering the greenhouse ecosphere, heat is greatly reduced.
* Photosynthetically Active Radiation

2. Generate Energy
Spectral Cell™ further ensures that the filtered light doesn’t go to waste. Instead, it is captured by solar cells to be converted into storable energy, which may then be utilised as necessary to reduce electrical consumption from the grid. Based on prototype tests, Spectral Cell™ was able to achieve a maximum electrical power generation capacity of 75Wp/m2.

Other Benefits of Spectral Cell™

Healthier Crops
  • Reduced reliance on chemical pesticides
  • Potentially greater yields (more than 50%, based on prototype tests)
  • Shorter growing seasons
Better Heat Management
  • Reduced use of water and electricity for cooling (up to 20%, based on prototype tests)
  • Adjustable louvre design aids in shading
Easy Implementation
  • Modular lightweight design is easily retrofitted to existing infrastructures
  • Compatible with vertical farming
  • Scalable to address expansion needs
IoT Ready
  • Modular lightweight design is easily retrofitted to existing infrastructures

EnCeres:
Sustainable Technology for a Sustainable Future

The world is in a race to achieve a net zero economy by 2050. In Singapore, the government has laid out its Green Plan 2030, with concrete targets over the next decade to attain our long-term net zero emissions aspiration as soon as possible. One of these targets is to produce 30% of the country’s nutritional needs by 2030.

EnCeres is doing our part to achieve these goals by innovating sustainable technologies that will boost the agricultural industry towards the carbon neutral finishing line. Through our products, we aim to help farmers increase their crop yields, while reducing their reliance on fossil-fuel energy, non-renewable natural resources, and non-eco-friendly chemicals.

True to our name – “ENabling” + “CERES” (Roman goddess of Agriculture) – we believe that every effort must be made to protect, nurture and cultivate this planet of ours, no matter how small. We hope that our vision is shared by governments and leaders around the world, and we look forward to sharing our technology with the wider global agricultural community.
